2024 Autoimmune Community Summit Session Recap
In the Keynote session at the recent Autoimmune Community Summit, we heard from Nitika Chopra, Founder and CEO at Chronicon and the Chronicon Foundation. Nitika shares her own story as someone living with Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis, how she was diagnosed, what life was like after diagnosis and tips on how you can share your own story.
The most important thing to take away from this session is: If you want to share your story, share it. It doesn’t matter if you only help one person and that person is you. Chances are you will impact even more people.
She offers a framework for sharing your story answering these three questions: Why? Who? And How?
Why: Know why you want to share your story. Focus the content in your story with the visibility you want it to give, not just the validation it might give you.
Who: Know who you are going to tell your story to. Who is the audience you are talking to and want to help?
How: Do your research. What stories have you heard and how did they tell it that resonated with you? What is your unique way of sharing your message? Find small ways to start sharing your story. Practice sharing pieces of your story whenever you meet someone. This gives you feedback on how people might respond to your story to learn how you can best tell it.
It is incredibly powerful to share your story. ChronicDiseaseDiary and AiArthritis are represented solely by patients and would be honored to hear your story. If you want a safe space to share your story, submit it to AiArthritis here.
